Dr Martens

Since 1960 Dr Martens has embodied all that is great about English fashion. Much admired in the UK for fifty years, Dr Martens have fresh prominence in fashion with Sienna Miller and other celebs promoting their cause. Dr Martens shoes began at Seeshaupt, a town near Munich, in Germany in 1945. Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To ease walking, he made shoes with a sole of used rubber tyres with air trapped within sealed compartments. An inventor friend saw the shoes and the rest, as they say, is history!
