This season's FitFlop boots for men have taken the brand to a new level of quality and style. There's no better example of this that the FitFlop Supertop boot. We all know that there's a great range of FitFlops for women but until lately the offering for me has been somewhat limited. Now men have a really good range of classic footwear styles, all with the benefits of the FitFlop Wobbleboard™ technology.
When I first tried the FitFlop Supertop boots the sponge like texture of the insole was the first thing I noticed. It really does provide an incredible amount of cushioning and comfort without any bulky wobbling outsole like other brands. Comfort is why I bought these boots - not the workout credentials. I wasn't however going to sacrifice looks and quality just for comfort. Here the Supertop scores again. The leather used is very high quality and the materials and finish lives up to the not insignificant price tag.
I took my FitFlop Supertops on a trip to the US last month (with a few other pairs I was also testing). Hands down these are the comfiest shoes I have ever worn. And I wear a ton of different shoes. I'd take a polygraph test on that too. No problems to report on quality - if anything use seems to make them even more comfortable.
I think FitFlop will continue to refine their range and the Supertop is a new kind of shoe from a brand broadening its range. If I'm being critical (and that's my job as a reviewer), I think the toe cap design in particular could benefit for some refinement - yes a simple design can be very stylish but these boots are a bit "version 1" and lack a bit of elegance and finesse. The way FitFlop are going, I'm sure that will come in time.
The other thing is a bit of an oddity. From some angles they look like they are on the wrong feet! There is only a very small visual difference between the inside and outside edge of the foot bed so it makes you check twice before putting them on. A bit of improvement there please FitFlop.
I'm wearing these FitFlop Supertops as my default pair of shoes this autumn. I guess that says it all.
