The famous Gola stable, founded in 1905, saw the birth of Gola trainers. The famous Gola Harrier recalls a pair of hand-made football boots, made in a small workshop in England. The Gola brand experienced a rollercoaster ride, surviving two World Wars and successive owners. Gola, the first company to use the word "trainer", blossomed in the 1970s as the pre-eminent UK sportswear brand, associated with boxing, rugby, tennis and squash sports stars.
