The design details of the Onitsuka Tiger Saiko Runner include a thickened midsole for cushioning and a sculptured outer sole for improved grip. A designer heel cap offers improved foot guarding and traction steadiness. Years ago Onitsuka, the founder of the now well-known shoes, decided that sports should play an important role in rebuilding the self-esteem of his native Japan. After years in the military,having learned how to manufacture shoes, he founded Onitsuka Tiger. It was the start of a company that would develop into one of the largest brands in the world. Named after the Saiko era in 9th century Japan, Saiko is the word for 'ultimate' and these Onitsuka Tiger Saiko Runners are just that!
