Rockport, founded in 1971 by father and son Saul and Bruce Katz, is Massachusetts based. Fixing on lightweight materials, comfort, and subtle styles, Rockport produces loafers/trainers, boat shoes, golf shoes, oxfords, sandals, boots, and walking shoes for the USA and 66 other countries. Giant Reebok, entering the non-athletic shoe industry, purchased the company in 1984. Rockport gained investment and Reebok athletic footwear technologies. These include: DMX inners with cushions of moving air reducing impact; Walk Dry water-resistant surfaces that allow breathability; XCS Extreme Conditions System anti-scratch and waterproofing; tough comfortable Vibram soles.
