Skechers

Skechers, the American shoe company was founded in 1992 by Robert Greenberg after he left the LA Gear company which he also started. Working with his son, Greenberg from the Skecher headquarters is in Manhattan Beach, California, at first distributed for Doc Marten. A significant 1995 saw Skechers push the boat out with their own shoe lines including Doc Marten type utility boots and suede skate boots. Skechers rapidly spread their sails delivering several distinct brand lines and the race was on. A recent mid-course correction moved production in the direction of women's styles, promoted by celebs such as Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson and others. Hot of the press - David Cook has signed an endorsement deal that runs to the end of this year.
